Matt McGranaghan

Matt McGranaghan has been a musician for 30 years. Beginning in Irish traditional music, he has worked across many genres from trad to country, orchestral to Scottish. A typical gigging musician he has worked in many environments from pubs to weddings, concert halls to cruise ships. He has been involved in numerous musical projects over the past 20 years from having his own 24 piece orchestra, an Irish / Scottish show called Kintra, which performed at Milwaukee Irish Fest two years in a row, and has been involved in countless cross-border and cross-community project in Donegal, Derry and Tyrone, and has been a sought after solo fiddle player in the trad world.
He also produced the St.Patrick’s day celebrations in Stormont each year for 3 years in a row for the Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly.
He has worked with Derry City Council, ILEX, Donegal County Council, and the Speaker’s Office in Stormont on various projects including City of Culture 2013, and a Donegal/Derry showcase at Milwaukee Irish Fest.
He has worked with Dolores Keane, Mary Black, Nathan Carter and over the past decade has worked mainly in the Irish Country scene.
Since the foundation of MEAI, Matt has been involved in the early days of the association.
Matt holds a First Class Honours degree in Music from the University of Ulster.
