What is the Issue?
For the professional musician, entertainer and crew, it’s not a hobby, it’s our career.
#paytheperformer campaign calls for fair and equitable payment for workers in the Music & Entertainment industry.
After 680 days of closure, the Music & Entertainment industry reopened on the 22nd January 2022 when all restrictions that affected the sector were lifted. Live performances & gigs are back and queries and bookings for music and entertainment are now starting to come in.
We don’t want to see workers’ fees being slashed, and work being offered in a ‘take it or leave it’ fashion with poor rates being offered.
Since March 2020 costs have increased in so many aspects of everyday life and also business life. The costs of petrol/diesel has increased by 30% on average and this is only one example.
Music and entertainment enhances the social and customer experience, attracts customers into and encourages them to stay longer in a premises, builds the profile of the premises and helps create a positive, upbeat atmosphere.
Let’s maintain the value of the product and service we provide.
What can You do?
We are calling on workers in the sector, businesses who promote and utilise music and entertainment, and fans and lovers of gigs and events, to support the #paytheperformer campaign by sharing on social media.
